Subject:Chinese Emperor Fan Painting
Posted By: Monique Rosa Tue, Apr 09, 2019 IP: 2001:980:57ae:1:9ff: Hello, i have this fan hanging on my wall. The image made me curious. It looks like the cosplay from emperor Yongzheng (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/life/2009-02/24/content_11890465.htm.) |

Posted By: rat Tue, Apr 09, 2019 This is a good quality picture that's not in the best condition, probably 19th century, could be earlier. Rather than depicting an emperor in another guise, the central figures appear to be dressed in theatrical costume. Someone else may recognize source of the scene being depicted. |

Posted By: rat Thu, Apr 11, 2019 Yes, I think it's possible this is an 18th century painting too. However, it would be difficult to narrow it down to the Yongzheng reign without substantial additional research on the style of court painters and leading professional painters of that time. It's of good quality. |
