Subject:flambe vase with yongzheng seal
Posted By: Caressa Wed, Mar 27, 2019 IP: 156.1.172.30

Hello!

I recently purchased a flambe vase from an antique store. Always had been fascinated with these, but I could not find one in person until this one! I noticed that there is a yongzheng six character imperial seal at the bottom of the vase. However, I'm not sure whether it is authenticate or not. I was wondering if this piece would also be worth an appraisal or not. There was also a lot of dried mud stuck to the piece, and I tried to gently clean it, but I'm afraid I might damage it so I left it as is after.

I would greatly appreciate your opinions, and would love to learn more about these vases and imperial seals.

Thank you in advance!

Need a photo. Also generally speaking, fakes are covered in mud to fool a western buyer. Will check back after you post a photo.

Pictures would help. Without seeing the vase, "a lot of dried mud stuck to the piece" is usually an effort to make a piece look old and to deceive the novice buyer. This muck doesn't wash off because it was deliberately applied rather than accumulated over time from use.

Cheers,
Stan
