Subject:Japanese Scroll signature identifcation
Posted By: Janet Colwell Wed, Mar 06, 2019 IP: 2601:19a:8380:89cf:f

Hello, I just purchased this antique scroll at an estate sale and am trying to identify the artist. Does anyone recognize these marks? Thanks!

My opinion:-

1. I think this is a museum reproduction of a painting.

2. Chinese, not Japanese.

3. Seal reals Jiu Wang Sun 舊王孫

4. From Taiwan national museum or gallery.

Attributed to Pu Ru, brother to the last emperor of Chins, Pu Yi.

Your scroll is Chinese,
Inscription,
清波遠迫正秋風
水際新帯蒲露濃
白鷺間來波上立
夕陽相咲蓼花紅
Autumn wind presses far the clear waves
On the waterside where the new reed is covered with dew
A white egret is standing in the pushing waves
The red flowers of the knotweed are in bloom in the setting sun
Signature,
心畬 - Shinyu (Courtesy name)
Upper seal,
奮王孫 - Jiu Wangsun - Prince`s Descendant (Pseudonym)
Lower seal,
溥儒 - Puru
Big seal in the left lower corner,
中華民國國立博物館 - ROC National Museum (Taiwan)

Your scroll is a museum replica.

With regards,
I.Nagy
