Subject:Authenticity Age ~ Famille Verte Style Vase Pair?
Posted By: Anne Sat, Mar 02, 2019 IP: 2606:a000:1012:2a3:2 Would these be considered famille verte/rose or would they be a Nippon style moriage? Hand painted, interior turnings. The colors are vibrant with gold highlights. Delicate landscape with a small scene of mountains, a butterfly and birds on opposite side. |

Posted By: Bill H Sun, Mar 03, 2019 The painting style is Japanese, perhaps Meiji-Taisho era. I'm unaware of the Japanese term for the palette but birds & flowers is a seminal theme for Chinese and Japanese artists. The lack of markings probably has no implication for age, because many Japanese products originally were sold in labeled boxes. |
