Subject:"Yuhuchun" Pear-Shaped Vase is it old Chinese ?
Posted By: Greg James Fri, Feb 22, 2019 IP: 2600:1700:b392:4730:

Hi. Recently acquired this vase with blue under-glaze, yellow, red overglaze at an estate where there was a great deal of authentic Ming items. It is 6" inches in height and 5" in width. Fine crackling throughout the piece, I am not sure of the nationality or age. Any thoughts would be most appreciated. I am new to this site. I hope to be able to answer some questions as well as ask in the future. Thank you.

If it's from China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand or elsewhere in Asia, it has no traditional iconography beyond that of a restaurant serving chicken and duck. Probably 20th century or later and meant for kitchen or decorative use.

P.S. This piece has the form of a bottle. A pear vase (yuhuchunping) looks like the one below.

Best regards,

Bill H

This strongly reminds me of Italian or Dutch hand painted folk art.
