Subject:Identifying Mark and Time Period of Chinese Tile
Posted By: Amy Struble Fri, Feb 22, 2019 IP: 173.66.85.19 I recently acquired a framed tile which depicts the Chinese folk tale of the reunion of Weaver Girl & Cowherd. I think it is a relatively recent piece (ie last 25 years or so). I cannot access the back, as it is nailed with a piece of wood. There is a seal in the upper left corner that depicts the longevity character & two fish TIle measures 12" x 10". Could someone please tell me if this seal is a factory or maker's mark? Also, where & when was this plaque made - PRC? Hong Kong? Frame is typical of other frames I have seen for recent tiles. |
