Posted By: rat Thu, Jan 24, 2019 Looks like a reproduction on fabric of a painting that's familiar but I can't recall off the top of my head. I think the original is in the Palace Museum, Beijing and published in Sherman Lee and Howard Rogers, Masterworks of Ming and Qing Painting from the Palace Museum, but will have to check. The inscription and seals in lower left are the artist's, the seals in the lower right belong to later collectors. |

Posted By: rat Fri, Jan 25, 2019 The painting is indeed illustrated in the Lee and Rogers exhibition catalog as a painting by Qing artist Xiao Chen. Oddly, however, the picture shown in the book looks just like this black and white one--it has an inscription in the upper left by the artist, and lacks the inscription at the bottom left that yours has (an inscription which is not by the artist after all): |
