Posted By: rat Tue, Jan 22, 2019 Sorry to disappoint, but these are mostly facsimiles of seals that the Qianlong emperor or those who inventoried the imperial collection applied to paintings in that collection; the inscriptions similarly indicate association with the Qianlong emperor. None of these things would appear on the exterior of actual scrolls in the imperial collection, however. They appeared on the artwork itself (see the Ni Zan picture below, which contains most of those appearing here). Instead you have some collateral materials created recently to convey the impression that the artwork these were associated with was part of that collection, which is almost certainly not the case. |
