Subject:Bronze mirrors
Posted By: Mike Dunn Tue, Jan 15, 2019 IP: 2001:569:fc8b:fa00:5

I have several bronze mirrors that were collected by a family member who served in Japan as a missionary shortly after WWII. I am having trouble identifying them and am looking for some help. Attached are pictures of the largest one (24.5CM across) Any help with this will be appreciated. A suggestion as to who I can go to for identification on the others will also be appreciated.

田中伊賀守藤原吉次 - Tanaka Iganokuni Fujiwara Yoshitsugi (Maker)
The face image depicts an auspicious grouping of pine, bamboo, plum, tortoise and crane.
This copper mirror according to available internet informations dates between 1890 and 1910.

Thank you. I have been struggling to find information on the items that I have left from this estate. All of the people who could help to explain what the items are have passed away. I do have proof of provenance on most of the items. A large part of the collection was donated years ago to a university in the collectors home town. Once again thank you for your help.

Look Japanese by the inscription LHS.
Don't believe they have much age based on pictures.
