Subject:Red glazed brush washer or planter
Posted By: Myra Fri, Jan 04, 2019 IP: 77.170.249.58

Dear all,

Would some of you be so kind to help classifying this brush washer with wooden stand. I'm such a novice, I wouldn't know where to start.
1. function: I'm not even sure whether it is a brush washer. The piece might be a Jun ware imitation, Intended for the cultivation and display of plants;
2. shape: rectangular...
3. glaze: numbered Jun wares are high-fired stoneware ceramics. About the red glaze: it's nog shiny/glass like, but orange peel. That's not highly favored, which is why I consider this to be some kind of imitation.
As you can see, I need to do some catching up with you guys.
I'll order Antony Allen's book asap.

Looking forward to hear you opinions,
best regards,
Myra
