Subject:Chinese Statue
Posted By: BL Sat, Dec 22, 2018 IP: 69.86.17.79

The piece in the photos was sold to me as an early 19th century Chinese piece. It is wood and the armor is metal (possibly bronze). The dimensions are 15" high, 7 1/2" wide and 5 1/4" deep. Any information about its age, where it was made and the part of society that is represented by the sculpture would be appreciated. Thanks.

BL

The status is for Wen Cai Sheng (the god in Taoism in charge of wealth). It should be made in late Qing Dynasty in South China (possibly in Guangdong or Fujian Province)
