Posted By: Clark Mon, Dec 03, 2018 Some additional information, I suspect this is an Meiji period reproduction based on one of the woodblock cuts boardering colors on the robe. The additional mark under the publishers mark I’ve been unsuccessful identifying. Foxing seems mostly contained to one area, but I’m guessing a copy, even an early one in this condition has little retail value? |

Posted By: Stan Tue, Dec 04, 2018 On artelino.com, repro Ebizo prints like yours sold for from $70 to $250. If your print has mica in the gray background, then that is a better repro. |

Posted By: Clark Wed, Dec 05, 2018 Stan, thank you this is an older copy with mica, I had a stack of old prints one was a 3 panel Toyokuni II, I sold at Butterfields 40 years ago for around $600 and still have a couple (Kunisada) Toyokuni III panels stuck away someplace that 40 years ago weren’t terriblely valuable, they may be worth more now? When I run across them I’ll post a couple of pictures. |

Posted By: Stan Mon, Dec 03, 2018 You have a repro of a Sharaku print: Actor Ichikawa Ebizô as Takemura Sadanoshin. Here is an original at the Boston MFA. |

Posted By: Clark Sun, Dec 09, 2018 Stan, thank you so much, I’ve been pretty sure it was a repo but figured one last check from the experts here couldn’t hurt. |
