The mark reads "Made by Hichozan Shimpo", a studio that was active around the last quarter of the 19th century. If You search Hichozan in the forum archives, you'll find earlier discussions of this mark.

While the vase appears to be in the Hichozan style, the mark looks like someone has restored the bottom of the vase and traced the mark on top of the paint with a fine-tipped pen. For comparison, I've included another of these marks below, also from a vase.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hi Wil,

The mark reads "Hichozan Shinpo zo". Dating around 1850-1870.

Arjan

Alfredolloza,

"Tsukuru" 造 ou "Zo" signifie "fabriqué" ou "créé"
Ce n'est pas le nom d'un artiste.
Alors: Fabriqué par Hichozan Shinpo / Créé par Hichozan Shinpo.

Regarder la photo rose de la marque: "Made by".
Salutations,
Martin.

Your vase is marked:
- Dai 大 Nippon 日本 (= great Japan)
- Hichozan 肥碟山 Shinpo 信甫 Zo 造 (= made by Hichozan Shinpo).
Unfortunatly the 2nd character of Shinpo has faded, but this signature is clearly recognizable as Hichozan Shinpo.
Regards,
Martin.
