Hi, I own this Chinese emperor portrait.
I have one question that I would like to know about it.

- What century was this portait painted in?

I would appreciate any information regarding this.

遜帝溥儀皇帝 - The Abdicated Emperor Puyi
Personal name of the last Qing Emperor (reigned as child 1909-1911) Abdicaated in 1911.
Your portrait could date early 20th century.

With regards,
I.Nagy

most likely within the past few decades, the cracking and dirt created to give the impression of age; it's a picture of "P
uyi, the last emperor"

The title in bold characters at the top of what looks to be an early-20th century painting reads 遜帝溥儀皇帝 (xun di pu yi huang di) "Emperor Puyi the Abdicated Ruler". Also known as "Henry Puyi", this last Qing emperor ascended to the throne in December 1908 under the reign title Xuantong, and his rule officially ended in February 1912, just after he turned six (if I'm reading Wikipedia correctly). It's hard to say how old he's supposed to be in the picture. He went on to be the puppet emperor over Japanese-controlled Manchuria, and lived out his life in China after World War II. You can get lots of additional information online by querying his name, "Henry Puyi".

Best regards,

Bill H.
