The material is high gloss. . it has been dipped in some dye stuff to make it look old, burial. . .

Thank your for your reply Ernest. Here is a few close up pictures for the tools marks and mineral changed in this piece. I think good quality nephrite jade can be polished in glass like gloss.

Hi Ernest,
In Warring States and Han Dynasty. Jade carvings often polished to very high gloss (glass like shine), After Han Dynasty the technique were lost just like the Han Eight Knife Carving . Here is some pictures I found in Google under Han Dynasty Jades. Thank you and have a nice day!!
