Need Help with Identifying this Vase

The vase probably is a late 20th century or subsequent product. Its mark of a hare or rabbit lacks either the animation or evidence of pressure variations associated with the traditional artist who would have drawn it during the late Ming to early Qing period, when such marks were in vogue. These artists would draw such creatures just like they would write Chinese characters; i.e., in several strokes of a flexible brush that they'd practiced during a youthful apprenticeship to a master and later in their own studio for much of their lives. The rabbit on your vase is drawn in lines that are flat and unvarying, as if made by a felt-tip marker.

The only images I can use to demonstrate this at the moment are from an early 19th century "farmer's hat bowl" with a rabbit in the cavetto. However, it appears to make the point.

Best regards,

Bill H.
