You don't give dimensions for comparison, but some possibility exists your vase could be an altar piece for holding incense sticks or something for the scholar's desk for brushes. The glaze colors and type of breakage I see reminds of what I've encountered on "mudmen" figurines from the Shiwan kilns in Guangdong province. Attractive piece. Not sure whether the writing on the base is a single character or meant to be a stock number, perhaps "Number 8" (8号 - bahao), written cursively (and shown here 90-degrees right of proper reading angle).
