Subject:signature on bronze statue of a monkey

We have a little bronze statue of a monkey (height 10,5 cm) and it is signed on the back. Could the signature be Chinese or Japanese, and if so, what does it spell? Any information on country of origin, age, and translation of the signature would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

is there anything on the base the statuette?

Thank you for your reply. The signature is on the back of the base. There are no further marks or anything on either the statuette or the base.
