Subject:chinese japanese tibetan?
Posted By: Yurike Wed, Oct 10, 2018 IP: 173.69.179.124 Trying to find info on some old scrolls that my husband had bought over the years. Possible artist subject matter and age/origin. Listing 2 or 3. Very long hanging scroll 82"x25" that needs some restoration work at the top.Seems to be of religious or mythological subject. Top Possibly depicting Sun Wukong? |

Posted By: I.Nagy Thu, Oct 11, 2018 These are Chinese consecutive zodiac signs: Monkey and Rooster. There are 12 signes together. They are the spheres in ancient Chinese astronomy which divides the celestial spheres, twelve from East to West along the equatorial belt. They are considered in Taoist calendar as imaginary star-kings. Names of star-kings indicated after the names of zodiacs. |
