Subject:24 inch Imari charger
Posted By: Rebecca Tue, Oct 02, 2018 IP: 12.175.74.134

Hello

Please see the attached photo's. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if this 24 inch charger is Chinese or Japanese. Also, an approximate age would also be appreciated. The central two figures and the horse are interesting.

Thank you,
Rebecca

The charger definitely appears to be Japanese made, and I would tentatively place it as late 19th C to early 20th C (Meiji Period) given the unglazed foot, level of wear, and subject/style of the decoration. It may be later, but would not be more recent than the 1940s in my opinion.
