Subject:Please Help date this Imari Charger
Posted By: Tom W. Sat, Sep 08, 2018 IP: 184.98.126.103

This Japanese Imari Charger is about 18 3/4" in diameter. I'm thinking it is 19th century but would like to know if the date can be pinned down any more. It has 5 stilt marks.
Thanks for your help :)

The mark reads: Fuki 富貴 Choshun 長春.
Fuki Choshun written in Kanji characters means "Wealth and Everlasting Spring", also translated as "Good fortune and long life" or "Wealth, Nobility, Longevity and Youth".
The mark is used in the late Edo Period as well as in the Meiji Period. 19th century.
Regards,
Martin.

Thank you Martin. Would it be possible to definitively place it in a more constrained time frame, or manufacturing zone based on the motifs?

Tom,
I'm not specialized in dating Japanese ceramics by motifs, more in Japanese ceramics marks, so I can't give you a more accurate time frame.
Sorry,
Martin.
