Subject:Nephrite pendant (new) question
Posted By: Pavel Mon, Sep 03, 2018 IP: 91.122.15.30

Hello there

Long story short, i was making nephrite pendants and noticed that one stone have an inclusion with somewhat facial features. Do you think i shall sell it as curio or it is just a defected surface?

Hi Pavel, seems you are asking for our opinions, so first thing nice work. I think you could go a couple different ways, first with regard to the face, I can see something that looks like a monkey’s face in the inclusion...year of the monkey or something like that. Second, I have many friends that carve jade in China and they will carve out the inclusion, and/or do additional carving using the inclusion so the color variation highlights their design. I think you as the artist must decide based on your comfort working with the material and understanding of what your customers are looking for.
Best of luck, clark

Hello Clark and thank you very much for your answer.

I see that horrendous quality of the photo was a bit misleading. This stone is indeed the best specimen i ever possessed. In reality it unbelievably (for nephrite ) translucent, furthermore offering "cat eye" effect for the viewer.

This is hundred percent not a :carving material". And that why i am not sure if it will contribute me to invest any further artistic efforts into it.

Thank you very much for your offer. The stone will be up to sale somewhat in next month. I need to make a proper set of photos anyway, the color is completely wrong on this one.

I am setting up an amazon seller account at the moment, when finished, it would be the most handy place to check out my pendants. I am not sure if this would be allowed by moderators, but i will reply with a link soon.
