Posted By: Rod Thompson Wed, Jul 04, 2018 It looks to me like paint under a microscope as I have studied all types of prints vs painted objects. So is it a painted over print? |

Posted By: Bill H. Fri, Jul 06, 2018 Since leaving my first comment, I spotted a vase in a shop with decoration like what's on your dish. I took a closer look at it to see if it had the same mark as your dish and the other vase I'd seen in the forum at the same time. It indeed did have the same mark, as well as a paper label identifying it as made in Macao, a locale known for transfer-decorated but not hand-painted porcelain. I can't see anything about the mark or the rest of the decoration on your dish to suggest hand painting on either side, unless some of the transfer printed elements in the motif might have some color washes that were added by hand. |
