Subject:Chinese Hanging Scroll - Calligraphy
Posted By: Fujin Sun, Jun 24, 2018 IP: 2a00:23c5:5c09:7d00:

Hi, I was hoping someone may be able to help me decipher this Chinese calligraphy?

It is basically four lines of seal script calligraphy, rendered again in clerical script to the left.

I think the Hanzi are -

I can find reference to line one, three and four, but line two yields no results, so I am still unsure of the correct translation.

I think it is dated 2013, and was executed in Handan City, but I cannot identify some of the hanzi in the signature panel.

In the leisure seal, I can see 吉洋?意 (Not 100% sure)

And in the main seal I can only make out 玉.

If anyone can help me figure this one out it would be very much appreciated!

Looks like you have already received some expert help: the content you have is pretty much correct. These are all aphorisms wishing a new store good luck upon its opening.

Artist's name is Wang Ming 王明 rather than Yu-Something 玉-X

The missing character of the leisure seal is the same 如 that appears in the inscribed text.

the signature line reads: 王明書于...

My rough translation,
- Who engages in trade, should keep the good faith as iron rule
- Make fair profits just like a professional
- Business is boomig across the four seas (whole world)
-Money source prosperous reaching the Three Rivers
(whole China)

Year of Water-Dragon (2013) Spring Festival
Leisure seal,
May everything turn out luckily
Main seal,
‐ Yu Mingchu?
Signature,
Yu Mingchu China Handan

Thank you both so much!

I.Nagy my translation was very close to yours, but I thought line four was more like 'The source of all wealth is the Sanjiang'.

Rat, I'm really impressed that you could find a hit on this calligrapher!

Thank you both once again!
