Subject:Re: Chinese mark question

I don't see anything illegitimate about the mark or decoration. The former reads down and across from the top right in seal script as "Made in Jiangxi (Province) by Tao Zhuanjing" (Jiangxi Tao Zhuanjing Zhi - 江西陶專精製). The link leads to a Chinese forum thread with images of a teapot bearing Tao's standard script mark, which item is consistent with wares made from the 1930s to 1950s. One of the commentators in the forum seems to think the teapot might have been connected to commemorative gift-wares that were made in 1947 By the Jiangxi Provincial Porcelain School to celebrate the Chinese victory in the war against fascism, as World War II was called.
I've uploaded some views of a commemorative platter that was made in China in 1947 for another happy event, the wedding in England of Princess, now Queen, Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The decoration has some of the same features seen in your dish, including a "Wufu" (Five Blessings) bat medallion and dragons. My apologies for the poor quality of the off-screen pictures.
Best regards,
Bill H.
