Subject:Help needed in identifying the Chinese character name and the factory mark
Posted By: Rochdale Community Fri, Mar 09, 2018 IP: 95.153.132.164,2a02:

Please help to identify the name of the person depicted on these 2 different Chinese statues. The first statue seems to belong to the Republic era and I would appreciate the translation of the base mark. The second should be a production of the 1960-ies but I am not certain whether it is the very same person or two different ones. Conerning the second one I received an opinion from a Chinese friend that this should be someone named 叶钟灯 but I have no idea who he was.

The writing on the mark I was able to indentify, it is 叶钟红造 (made by Yezhonghong)

But as for the characters depicted on both sculptures the question remains open.

The quiestion seems to be solved and this character should be 赵子龙 or Zhao Zi Long

The base-mark looks to me like 葉運江造 / 叶运江造, which is read in Mandarin pinyin as "Ye Yunjiang Zao". The only findings on the web seem to be a similar posting on this Russian-language site. Also yours maybe?

Thank you, Bill! Yes, I posted this translation on that site a few days ago. Best regards!
