Posted By: Joe q Sat, Mar 03, 2018 IP: 73.112.80.18

Thanks for taking the time to look, been searching with no luck for info on this item. Because of the glaze thinking it may be Korean or Chinese, any thoughts would be appreciated. 10 1/2" high by
8 1/2" wide

Form resembles some modern Catawba Indian pots. However, these are typically unglazed, burnished earthenwares, which are pit fired. This may explain the "American Indian" label on the bottom.

A similar horned-handled jar form was also make by Japanese potters from Awaji Island.

Thanks for the reply, would the glaze be typical of what they did on Awaji? Best regards Joe

I noticed that it is wheel thrown, I think most native potters of the past and traditional potters use hand building techniques. Some I think throw pots in more modern times. The shape also looks somewhat like some from the Cado tradition. The clay looks white, that might help narrow it down a little- if it is American
