Posted By: shedrick Tue, Feb 27, 2018 IP: 70.187.52.1

a gold silk scroll with dragons with en-cursive calligraphy , some of the black calligraphy is written over the red calligraphy. seems to be old due to the staining of the back of the silk?

thanks to everyone.
when i took the pics they were correct but due to the software turned them sideways again?????

This appears to be an Imperial decree of some kind, dated from the tenth day of the sixth month of the reign of the Qing ShunZhi emperor, thus 1647.

The squiggly lines of writing on the far left are in Manchurian script (the native language of the members of the race that conquered the Han Chinese of the Ming dynasty).

Serious investigation would be needed to determine if it is genuine.

one place to start is with other Shunzhi edicts, say sold by Christie's or Sotheby's. The characters on yours look quite large and regular though, I a suspect this is computer-printed using a modern-day font.

Rat that hurts. I thought I was a millionaire. But the back of this is old and wet damage. They say you can tell a lot by looking at the back.😃

Thanks Rat, i looked at Christie's but there are similarities. My question to you is how many "EDICTS" of the same edicts are made or sent out?
How does the other part of the country know about the edicts unless there are many? There was no telegraphs, telephones or internet like to day?
Because i found the same type of edicts on ebay.
