Subject:Japanese Woodblock Print by Koho Shoda Night Scene
Posted By: Michael stein Mon, Feb 12, 2018 IP: 71.83.186.68 Hello everyone. I found this print at the swapmeet. It was framed in a really old frame but the glass and wood were broken so I took it out. It was also placed on silk. Is this a good copy? Every one I look up has a Japanese red stamp on the front and writing on the side. This one only has a red stamp on the back reading “Koho”. Is this one a modern copy? Is it a desriable copy? Thank you for any info! |

All of the Koho Shoda “Lake Biwa” prints I see online differ from yours. The ones I see have a lamp on the boat between the woman on the left and the tree. In my mind, this (and the differences you note) raises a question as to your print's pedigree. |
