Subject:Chinese Teapot Animals and Cloisonne
Posted By: Brenda Mon, Oct 16, 2017 IP: 98.114.221.30 Am hoping to find out information about this teapot I recently purchased. It is about 5" tall and has cloisonne, jade like rings and pewter animals attached. It is marked on the bottom. I have different opinions as to it's age, being told it was old and also being told it is new. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Oct 17, 2017 The animals are creatures associated with the Chinese zodiac, which should total a dozen if all there. The jade-like material may be glass, judging by the swirls. Date of manufacture in China, circa mid-20th century or somewhat later. Here's a link to a similar pot with different colored rings, indicated to be agate. |

Subject:Many, some very like yours, can be found on eBay

Some of the lids look as if they could have started out life atop a tea canister or something and were left over when the factory closed. Perhaps someone is soldering stuff together? |
