Subject:Amber Carving

REcently I bought this piece of amber - about 8cm long.
It was labelled: Deity on a tiger.
For me it looks more like Buddha, riding a Lion or fighting with a demon.
Somebody has more information?
Tibet or China?
Age?
Subject?

Michael,
The motif reminds me of hand painted plate I was asking about several years ago, you might look at the description at the bottom of the post regarding the last image which seems very similar to your carving.
