Subject:Xuande cup
Posted By: Chris J. Wed, Oct 11, 2017 IP: 89.67.185.247

I bought this both cups at an flea market. According to seller they were made ca. 1910. I believe the mark is Xuande but the making period is Quangxu. They are hand painted. The diameter is ca 9,7 cm but the size is slightly different

Dear Chris

I believe both objects are transfer printed on both sides. The footrim is also very white. I am sorry to say that I therefore think these dishes are much more modern than 1910.

Kind regards
Jonathan

Dear Jonathan, thank you for your reply. This cups looked for me also as not very old but I have hoped that they were form Guangxu period or mayby Republic. You are right that shou is transfer printed or stamped. I think that thnk signature is stamped and the other characters are hand painted because the same characters have different look on both objects

Dear Chris

By my estimation, there is no hand painting on these objects at all. Everything looks transfer printed on.

Kind regards
Jonathan
