Thank you for your information! Are they rare? What do you think they cost in this condition?

The first print is by Toyohara Kunichika. I can't tell much else given the picture.

The second print is by Utagawa Kunisada (signing as Toyokuni III) and is from his series "The mirror of today´s picture" (Imayo oshie kagami). It is of the actor Nakamura Shikan IV. See the link below and scroll about 1/3 down the page.

Cheers,
Stan

This is the 15th page from the 1st volume of
Zenken Kojitsu (前賢故實) a collection of biographies of Japanese historical personalities in 10 volumes
and 20 books.Published from 1843 until 1868, illustrated by Kikuchi Yosai (菊池容齋)
( A single page practically has no value)

You should keep your day job.

The Kunichika print appears to be in very good condition with no fading (the green area is still green - not faded to blue). Without better pictures (and I. Nagy's translation help to ID the series) of the 1st print, putting an accurate value is difficult. Consulting artelino.com's auction archive, Kunichika prints range from about $50 to $200 (plus a 20% buyers fee).

The Kunisada print appears to have significant losses in the upper left and other lesser condition problems. This makes it of little value to a collector. Framed it makes a decent decorative object. In very good condition, prints from this series sell in the range from $50 to $240 on the artelino.com site. I didn't find a sale for your print.

The double book page has little more than decorative value. Double book pages by famous artists like Hokusai or Hiroshige will get about $50 to $80 on artelino.com.

Cheers,
Stan
