Subject:Re: Qianlong dish

This dish has a pattern remarkably similar to that of a much larger (48cm) blue & white dragon dish in the Kangxi style with the late Qing Empress Dowager Cixi's "Chuxiu Gong Zhi" (儲秀宮製) seal. The latter piece is shown in the 1987 Weishaupt Collection catalog, "Vom Schatz der Drachen". I'm unable to say whether one of this smaller size was ever made with a period mark during the Qianlong Reign, but if it was, it escaped the Liu Liang-yu survey of late Qing porcelains, as well as my best Taipei Palace Museum catalog from the 1986 Exhibition of Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong porcelains. Also, the foot on the dish here looks a bit dirty for imperial porcelain of almost any kind from the Qianlong era, much less one with an imperial dragon, because the porcelain industry was strictly regulated at that time.
Best regards,
Bill H.
