The alphabet is common to the Thai, Lao and Shan people of Southeast Asia, all of whom share Tai ethnicity as far as I know. Your bronze Sakyamuni "Earth-touching" Buddha images ,resemble those I've seen that were cast by Shan artisans in Burma. Here's one I Picked up in Rangoon about 35 years ago. It's supposed to date to the 19th century or earlier.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Just occurred to me that if a Shan artisan made these, the writing could be Burmese. Perhaps someone who actually reads the script can verify.

I'm pretty sure the writing is called Burmese script. I would think it is a Sutra of some kind. Just my thoughts
