Subject:Kraak or Annamese syle old or modern?
Posted By: Endre Sat, Sep 02, 2017 IP: 2602:306:c51c:e200:9

I was hoping that someone could help me identify this piece. I think it is called a salt. It measures 1 7/8" high x 4 5/16" wide. The stem is 7/8" high x 2 1/16"- 2 3/16" uneven diameter. I think it has a stylized chrysanthemum design.I don't know very much about these things, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about the quality of the photos. I wanted to provide a little more information for anyone who might find one of these. I was hoping to get an experts opinion and look forward to hear someone chime in. I did see a couple of these on the net, and they have been called a salt, footed dish, compote, Buddhist offering dish, and others. One was very similar shape and foot but had a benjarong pattern. Another similar one had one of the stickers that states "Tao-Kwang 1821-1850 guaranteed to be from the above mentioned period", but the expert selling it said it is from a little later than that. Does anyone know of these stickers? The close benjarong match was said to be Chinese export to Thai market. Most have a date listed as mid-late 19thc. This is min Yao design with stylized lotus petals. Perhaps made for Viet market?
