Subject:Chinese bowl help to I'd please
Posted By: NIKOLAOS K Thu, Aug 10, 2017 IP: 188.73.194.110

I have in my family a chinese bowl with a golden stand. It has a seal of qianlong period 1736 but someone told me that it isn't old probably early 20th cent despite the seal.
Any help welcome.

You have a late-20th century or subsequently produced cup with faux rose medallion transfer decoration attached to what appears to be a makeshift pedestal fashioned from a polished brass component meant for use by lamp-makers. The base of the cup has an apocryphal six-character mark of Qianlong, which is just another facet of the transfer decoration.

Best regards,

Bill H.
