Posted By: Bill H Tue, Aug 08, 2017 Based on information found at the link, this vase with a seal-script mark of "Bunsai" and blue & white Chinese-style decoration may be the work of a circa late Meiji period Japanese potter named Ogawa Bunsai (小川文斉), or one of his heirs, whose kiln was near Kiyomitsu in Kyoto. The 5th generation of the family closed it in 1973. Ogawa Bunsai also is mentioned as using this mark in the 1902 book, "Japan: Its History, Arts, and Literature", by Frank Brinkley. |
