Subject:Qing Dynasty

I like to buy Chinese things. Bought this a long time ago. Now am I searching the internet about the Mark on the bottom. It says it is from the Great Qing Dynasty Qia Long period. Anyone a idea if this is true and what period is the Qia long period.

Indeed a QIANLONG mark.

Bonny, your decorative box is a pastiche, consisting of what looks like a transfer decorated box, on which the lid has been further adorned with silvery metal applications and a faux mark of the high-Qing Dynasty Qianlong reign.

Anytime you see an over-glaze red mark such as this one, which looks as if it has been fried like bacon, it usually is because the mark is applied by decal, and the item bearing it has been overheated in the kiln.

You'll note that the metal applications have been sloppily soldered together. In my opinion, most such unprofessionally soldered, low-purity silver-clad ornamental porcelain was made during the third quarter of the 20th century or later.

sorry, but this is quite recent. Qianlong marks often appear on ceramics, much as Xuande marks appear on bronzes. Both reign periods are known for their excellence in porcelain and bronze respectively.
