Subject:Unusual Cloisonné Silver Wire Sake Pot? Tea Pot? Please Help Identify :)
Posted By: Jemmie Mon, Mar 20, 2017 IP: 73.71.71.213

Hello there,
I came across this small tea pot? Sake pot? At a thrift store and fell in love with the amazing detail on it. The Lid has been ill-repaired and there is a chip to the spout, but other than that it's absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to find out more about it and through all of my searching I have not come across anything like it.
There are no makers markings that I can see, and I was told it was worth $20 by a man who looked at it and wanted to buy it. If anyone could help me find out more about it, I would be very grateful!

A fine quality Japanese moriage enamel teapot on a Satsuma-like pottery body. Probably dates to the late Meiji period, circa 1890-1910. A very good buy and if it were mine I would look into having the lid professionally restored. The break looks pretty clean.

Yes the last reply you got was correct, it's worth getting it repaired and worth more than you paid it should make back the cost of restoration too if you ever sold it.

Thank you so much for your help! I love it too much to part with it, but will definitely look into repairs.

I wonder, would I just take it to an antiques shop and they might be able to recommend a local restoration business?

Thank you so much for posting this! I have an incense burner that I've wondered about for awhile now. The knob has been repaired on it.
