Subject:Identify age and origin jardiniere / dragon bowl
Posted By: Tina young Mon, Apr 03, 2017 IP: 66.170.194.26 I have a beautiful large pot with applied 3 toed dragons encircling. It seems to be stoneware with cream slip underglaze and colors of green / russet brown and metallic flowers/ trim. Several interior firing cracks that do not extend to the exterior ( more like separations from expansion of the thick glaze. 3toes and metallic suggest Japanese, sansai colors and tin glaze possibly Chinese. No underglaze blue on decoration - markings appear on side within the russet glaze- just a bit darker russet. No holes where dragons are applied- they are solid and applied . |
