Subject:Help identifying artist

We recently inherited a nanga screen that was purchased by my husband's family when they lived in Japan from 1960-61.
I was hoping someone could tell me or confirm the name of the artist. We found a receipt for the purchase of a screen painted by "Godow Suwa", but a sewarch for this artist turn nothing else up.
My husband, a librarian by trade, is telling me Suwa is a type of screen, or a lake in addition it it a family name, so we are lost.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
