Subject:Asian metal statue of a warrior?
Posted By: Ray Fri, Mar 10, 2017 IP: 2602:0304:cf5f:5970:

Hello,
Does any one know who this character is and how old this statue might be? It is about 4 inches tall. He is holding his beard in one hand and it is holding some kind of a weapon. I think it is solid metal(may be bronze) and not hollow because it is very heavy for its size. It has some spots that are gold color. At the base there is something that looks like a little stamp with a chinese character that looks like a "K", but may be it is not astamp and just some scratch. Any help in identifying this is greatly appreciated. I have also included a link to higher resolution photos.

Pretty sure that's Guan Yu (also Guan Gong). Don't know the age.

Thanks, yes that is Guan Yu.
Now does that character at base means anything in Chinese? It looks very symmetrical but may be it is not a stamp. Also, it would be still nice to know how old this statue might be. Can't tell if it is really an antique or made to look like one.
