Posted By: Jason B Thu, Feb 02, 2017 IP: 73.38.45.56

Hello. I have this print of a peacock that I have no information on. Would anyone be able to provide a a country of origin and possibly what the signature area says?

Thank you for your time and expertise.

If you do the image search, there are competing attributions. See link below. What are the dimensions of your print?

I'll leave it to others more expert to comment further.

Cheers,
Stan

The attribution of this print to Ito Sozan is not correct. His signature is well documented in Merritt/Yamada's "Guide to Modern Japanese Woodblock Prints: 1900-1975" page 289; #55. Also in Artelino's collection of artist signatures. That is neither Ito Sozan's signature nor seal on the peacock print. Sozan's seals are documented on my "Shin-Hanga Seal Finder" page on shotei.com.

This print was designed by Tsuchiya Rakuzan. See seal "P" on the seal collection page of www.rakusan.net. The print itself is documented on this page: http://www.rakusan.net/wcdetail/T1.html
