Subject:Help with ceramic motif
Posted By: Aubrey MacKenzie Sat, Feb 27, 2021 IP: 2601:600:c67e:3d10:c

Hello,

I am hoping that someone could identify the ceramic motif on a plate I have. The first picture is my plate, the second is the same motif on a plate in a gallery in Japan. Both depict a nude woman in a bath.

Thank you for any insight you may have

According to the gallery plate the motif on the plate is called ゆどの始め (湯殿始め)Yudono-hajime
or taking a bath for the first time in the new year.
The piece in the museum is labelled as an "Old Seto
Plate"

With regards,
I.Nagy
