Subject:Help with a Kutani tea cup
Posted By: Giuseppe Thu, Feb 25, 2021 IP: 85.226.33.157

Hello
I would like your help with this Kutani cup and saucer. The brand seems to me to be Kutani but I would like to understand more about the writing and age.
Thanks
Giuseppe

The isnscription is a "waka" from "One Hundred Poets, one Poem (Each)" anthology. (No.11 by Ono no Takamura)
和田の原 - Wata no hara
八十島 - ysoshima
かけて - kakete
こぎいでぬと - kogiidenu to
人にはつけよ - hito ni tsugeyo
天のつり船 - ama no tsuribune

I rowed a boat on the vast sea,
aiming for many islands
-Tell the people in the capital, it is a fisherman's fishingboat

With regards,
I.Nagy

I read somewhere, that this Kutani mark has been used from pre-war times to the 1960's.
