Subject:9 woodblock print. Are they from the same book?
Posted By: Hans Wed, Feb 17, 2021 IP: 86.91.195.211

I have 9 woodblock prints.
I have had them at home for over 10 years. The quality is exactly the same as when I bought them. They are not in very good shape.
I would like to know from which book they come. How old they are and possibly who made them.

This is a typical Kusazōshi or popular woodblock print illustrated literature.
Title is not shown here, because this is the 2nd volume.
Left upper corner;
芳虎 國貞 合画 - Jointly illustrated by Yoshitora and Kunisada
Right lower corner;
春水作 - Written by Shunsui
(Tamemizu Shunsui 1790-1844, writer considered to be the forerunner of Japanese novel)

Without the title it is impossible to identify the
details.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you very much for your clear explanation of those pages. You told me more than I expected. It is great to know exactly what I have in my collection.
I may post more questions in the future and I hope you can help me as well again.
