Jack, beautiful painting of a procession. I cannot help you out with information regarding your painting but wanted to share pictures of my collection of mud men also with the instruments that go along with a procession..

It is a Vietnamese painting depicting an imperial procession.
Inscription on the first flag;
開道　-　Clear the way
The last two characters of the sign carrier's boards are obscured by the carriers' hats. In my reading the inscription read;
南横御求典口　- Participating at Nam Hoanh Ceremony 口
