Subject:Signature of 71 year old artist?
Posted By: J. Boussinesq Sun, Jan 10, 2021 IP: 2600:1702:1d80:a040:

Hello,

Can anyone read the signature of this artist? I can see that he is 71 years old, but the parts above that escape me. This from a (probably) late Meiji uchiwa book with Kyoto artists such as Takeuchi Seiho, Imao Keinen, and Hamaya Hakuu. I have made the signature block larger to make it clear.

As always, thank you for the help.

Artist is Kano Tanyu. reads 探幽法印 Tanyuu Houin
I included a signature from a nice set age 71 for your reference.
Its rather clear that the printer had no glue of the of an original Tanyuu signature....

Thanks to both for the quick and helpful reading. I always look so closely at artists from the time and place of the book that I miss the historical ones, and my reading is not good enough to compensate.
