Subject:Help Identifying a pair of vases
Posted By: sylvia Sat, Jan 02, 2021 IP: 2604:2d80:5007:dd00:

Hello,
I am interested in these two vases but I do not know anything about them. The seller says that they are very old, from a Qing era but I want to make sure that is true. Could you please tell me something about them, the age and if it would be worth buying? Thank you so , so much!
Kind regards,
Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,
These pair of vases are not from the Qing period. They are late 20th century made.
Not worth buying imo. Decorative value only.

Looks to me from the nature of the decoration to be a recent version of the decorative transfer wares associated for years with Hong Kong and Macao and now made in what I perceive to be an expanded list of locations. You wouldn't find gilt of that brassy tone on a Qing vase, in my opinion. Many such items are made with a heavy form of pottery instead of porcelain.

Best regards,

Bill H.
